If you play tennis or racquetball you may not be able to continue to do so because you will not have the same equilibrium and balance as you had before you conceived. If you jog, you can jog in moderation and with the consent of your physician. Strength training is good as well.

Do not hold your breath for an extended amount of time. If you jump, skip, bounce or run you should use caution. If you have been sedentary you will not gain anything by beginning a heavy exercise program while you are carrying your baby. You can do exercises during pregnancy but you should make sure that you have cleared any activity with your health care provider.

If you have a urinary infection, kidney infection, or bladder infection you may have discomfort when urinating. You may feel like you need to urinate all the time and you may notice a foul smell or blood in the urine. A kidney infection can be very serious. When the infection has reached your kidneys you will have chills and sweats, pain on one or both sides, nausea and vomiting, and blood in your urine. If you leave the infection untreated you may experience early labor. There are many causes for lower abdominal pain during pregnancy and you should notify your health care provider any time the discomfort last more than a few minutes.
